Bless The Kitten

On the bus back to the office and I witnessed a heart wrenching sight.

A kitten lay on the road twitching and trying to get up as cars zoom past it, wheels barely missing its tiny body. It was probably paralysed on one side after a first hit and now just a sitting duck on the road waiting for death.

It was a painful sight though this pain will never be comparable to the one the kitten is feeling. I know road kills happen everyday but staring at one right in front of you is like a stab through the heart.

What is given can be taken
What is loved can be forsaken
Life was your gift
But death came too soon
So much you did not see
You barely had time to live
They called it fate
They termed it destiny
The end of the beginning
The beginning of the end
These tears will stop some way
But darling, so will your pain
And if there really is a heaven
There you will stay
And if there really is a God
He will not let you suffer again.
