Like a wanton lover after a wild night, the weekend grazes past our cheek, leaving behind the familiar bittersweet longing.

Too soon, gone too soon.

While some human beings got happily engaged, others like moi were too terrified of the blazing heat to step foot outdoors, save for the dog with a bursting bladder. Even so, that 10 minutes of mindless shelter-seeking activity while dog stubbornly decides to bask under the sunlight to poop, was more than enough to zap me of my energy.

"You're like a bed-ridden human being," lamented my sister when she spied me crawled under the delights of my comforter yet again. A shameless indulgence, a slothery comfort, my 48 hours of meme time. Right in front of the fan, at full blast no less, fighting for space on the bed with the dog who is slowly turning grey, because of his almost-extinct trips to showerland.

Invitations to party, shop and dine went neglected, with much sincere apologies. The relentless heat wave, like the grim reaper with its deadly scythe, was slicing away every bit of awakening aura a human being could possibly have. How did anyone, ANYONE at all survive the blistering warmth outdoors was beyond me, a mystery I had no desire nor energy to solve. Like an animal on the onset of winter, hibernation seemed like a better way out to tough out the cursed temperature. That, and the pleasure of back-to-back anime marathons on my dedicated, overclocking machine which worked as hard as I rested. If I had to award medals to the most hardworking machinery in my room, it would be a tough fight between my computer and the fan.

And as the merciless sun retreated, so did the wanton weekend lover. A seductive kiss upon the cheek, a tingling caress which leaves one begging for more, a pinky promise to visit again 5 days later.

The only saving grace of the next grinding 5 days would be the escape into an air-conditioned haven, while the heart aches and longs for the lover's touch, while the soul cries out for the salvation of self, and the lazy mind grumbles for yet more rest.

So my dear readers, how was YOUR weekend?
