We spend the day arguing over the most trival matters, crying over the smallest heartbreaks, boasting of our minute achievements.
Its not like we do not know there are women who are abused and oppressed in various corners of the world, while we are putting on our slickest lipgloss.
Its not like we do not know there are children fighting hunger pangs, when we go on crash diets in hopes of becoming the next Twiggy.
Its not like we do not know there are homeless dogs scavanging for scraps, while we throw away half of Poochie's dinner because Princess Poochie refused her low class kibbles.
Its because we do not see all these. Not everyday at least.
After all, we all think - what can we do?

Stray entrapped in AVA's cage
What can we do when human beings think the world belong to them and them alone. Stray dogs do not have a place in this world. They are to be exterminated permanently. Even though the stray dog is probably just roaming the area of food. Just for food, just for shelter. Thats all he is asking for.

Look into his eyes and tell him that he's gonna die
Every day, countless cats and dogs are caught, put down and/or poisoned by the authorities. Those who manage to evade the authorities are still exposing themselves to other dangers - accidents, dieases, hunger. This dog is just one of them.
My parents always tell me, "Girl, there's only so much you can do."
Its true. One dog may be saved but there are countless out there in various corners of Singapore who ain't so lucky.
Some are tortured. Some dead from hunger. Others breathe their last when hit by vehicles. Others simply paralysed, struggling for survival. All innocent lives, born perhaps in the wrong hands of fate.
Do we just sit in front of the computer saying, "aiyo so poor thing..."?
Do we just shake our heads and mourn for their deaths?
Isn't there something to be done? Something we can all do?
What are we living for? What are we dying for?
There is only so much a person can do, its true. But perhaps, it just might make all the difference between the thin realm of life and death.
