Some people's stupidity never fail to amuse me.
It all started when a Rottweiler was being given up by the owner. A kind lady fostered Anchor the Rottie and posted adoption notice in the forum, seeking potential adopters. Now Anchor seems to be a wonderful dog, not like the perceievd image of Rotties being savage creatures.
Before long, someone expressed a keen interest in adopting Anchor. This person stays in a HDB flat and owns a figgin' mini schnauzer. HDB? Rottie? Not exactly the smartest person eh?
And before anyone wants to find fault with me, use your common sense to think about it. If lovely GRs and beautiful mongrels are being complained and hunted down like vermins by the sibey-eng authorities, what chance do you think a Rottie has?
I was dumbfounded when I saw the thread.
Tongzhi bitched to me about the same thing too.
"She has an MS for God's sakes!" she exclaimed. "An MS and a Rottie isn't exactly a perfect combi, in terms of size! This person is mad!"
She had a point. Though I'm pretty ok with size issues, i also understand the concerns some owners may have about it. After all, we tend to safeguard our first dog, no? My main concern was the fact that Ms Stupid lived in a highly possibly Rotti-unfriendly pigeon hole, and that her character and (lack of) knowledge may not be suitable for the breed.
But what the hell, I aint the one handling this case. What right do i have to poke my nose into this business, anyway?
A couple of days later, an uproar was created over the Rottie thread. Being the little kaypo that I was, I peeked in and was overwhelmed by some dog owner's stupidity.
Apparently, Ms Stupid had requested the fosterer to bring Anchor the Rottie to HER (Ms Stupid's) place to see Anchor's reaction to her teeny Mini Schnauzer and her home turf. Nothing wrong with that really, except that the poor pregnant fosterer had to lug a big tummy and a large dog around. The poor soul.
Perhaps Ms Stupid thought Rottweilers came in portable sizes like Malteses and Shihtzus. Perhaps Ms Stupid is just... well, plain stupid. Because Ms Stupid did not dare hold Anchor's leash when the fosterer met up with her. Because Ms Stupid was apparently surprised at how big Anchor is as compared to her dog when both dogs played. Because Ms Stupid did not even consult her parents prior to the meeting. Not surprisingly, the parents said no.
The fosterer took Anchor back in a huff. What a waste of time.
Geez, I'd have thought the fosterer would know better than to even think about letting a little girl adopt Anchor. Sweet as Anchor is, this breed is not for everyone. Really, i wonder why she didnt have the mind to strike Ms Stupid off her list immediately.
And you know these dog owners. They can be downright malicious if they want to, and they have no qualms in fanning the fire to let it spread thousands of miles and beyond.
The whole pathetic scenerio was posted loud and clear for all to see in the thread, with poor little Ms Stupid trying ways and means to defend herself, but faililng miserably.
What's up with people these days, i wonder.
Yet another dumb dog owner in the forum. As if the Dumb Club membership in there aint high enough.
Stupid - such an understatetment.
