I saw a video which made me cry.

Some of you will probably do a double take. But yes. I cried.

If you really know me, you'd know that animal videos turn on my tear taps.

Especially one about pets dying. It kills me.

Why do we love that furry thing, only to probably have it die before us?

Why do we accept that furry thing into our lives, and let a part of us die with them when it leaves?

Do we have any idea that beneath that furry bundle of joy we are embracing is a weapon of such immense pain that some never fully recover from it?

Can we not look beyond their beautiful puppy eyes and see that they are as mortal as any of us?

Can we give them all our love each day, because we never know when the chapter will be closed?

All the squabbles over who feeds the dog, who walks the dog, who combs the dog. What if one day, you never have to engage in such trival things again?

What if one day you never have to be afraid of going home to see what the dog has done. What the dog has destroyed. Where the dog has peed?

The breath of freedom at last? Or the emotional chains of torment shackled?

Baby, if you ever leave me, a part of me will leave with you.

Because I love you so much. Too much.
