Its been 2 and a half days since little bugger was seen and found wandering ard the neighbourhood but my sis I have yet to find a single lost notice. Drats. My hope grows thinner each day as i walk my dog ard the area, hoping to see a lost dog notice pasted on the walls. But there's none so far.

2 and a half days ago, i was pretty convinced by my observation of the dog's condition that he's likely to be lost rather than abandoned. But it's been 2 and a half days. More than enough time for the owners to realise that their dog is missing. More than enough time for them to put up a couple of posters.

A glimmer of hope still resides deep within me though. After all, it's only been 2 and a half days. Maybe just maybe, the owners can be found within this week. It really hurts to think that such a sweet little bugger is abandoned.

I know this happens everyday. Owners throwing out their pets for some obscure reason - no time, no money, wife preggy, migration blah blah blah. But it's one thing to know and another thing to come face to face with the cruel and sad reality. And that always happens when the owner still hasn't claim the dog after weeks, despite doing everything possible within my means. It's heartbreaking.

So i hope.

And I pray.

That the little bugger is really a lost dog.

And that somewhere, somehow, owner and dog can be reunited again.

Because the thought of handling stupid people during the rehoming process really sickens me to the core.

People who are just interested in getting a free dog. ( "free one ar? I want leh!")

People who are just desperate for a dog, for some obscure reason. ("i really need a dog. please give him/her to me!)

People who are looking for a FREE dog to mate with their current dog.

People who arrogantly think they are the best candidates, but they fail my standards pathetically.

People who farking think rescuers owe them a farking living.

People who want a FREE, Young, Toilet Trained, Non Barkish, Healthy, Good Looking, Non Aggressive blah blah blah dog.

Basically, when you put a dog up for adoption, esp one with reasonably good criterias like young, good-looking, small, healthy etc (being a purebreed is a fantastic bonus), you get all sorts of people dialing your number. Young kids begging for the dog, aunties and uncles demanding that they want the dog, cheapo people who are trying to falsely claim the dog as theirs etc.

Of course, there are a couple of nice people who are sincere adopters. But the black sheep overpowers them all.

Call me cynical, but I've been there, done that, seen them all, hated it all.

I'll do whatever i can to ensure that these abandoned/unclaimed dogs go to a permanent home at last. A home where they are loved. A home where they are well-treated, never to go through the same painful ordeal again. It's every rescuer's dream for dogs under their care.

And constantly having to deal with stupid people like the ones mentioned above just doesn't make things easier.
